My favourite actor du jour - or more appropriately - vom tag - German actor Matthias Schweighöfer. You may recognize him from Valkyrie, The Red Baron and one of my favourite foreign films, Kein Ohr Hasen [Rabbit without Ears]. One of Germany's most promising actors, you'll be sure to see much more of him this side of the pond, his charming boyishness is winning critics over one film at a time.

life as we know it
If I had more traditional tastes - the interior set of the movie Life as We Know It would be my dream house. Although I thought the movie was charming, I was absolutely smitten with the house and like a true architectural designer, appreciate the floor plan even more than the aesthetics. I had to watch it a few times before I had the floor plan figured out, but figure it out I did, and believe me, quite a few of the space planning ideas will show up in future clients' homes.

cameron's ferris bueller house still for sale
It's been on the market for a year, and it's still for sale. 5300sf of landmark modernism just outside of Chicago is now priced at $1.65M - a steal in my books when I consider what you get here in Toronto for the same price. If only I could find the last $1.645M, we'd have a deal. [Spotted on the MidCentury Modernist]

Love, love, love. Great cast. Great soundtrack. Hugh Grant as prime minister. The dreamy architect Carl. And the flashcards! Broke my heart. I simply love this movie.

favourite christmas movies | all i want for christmas
As a countdown to Christmas, I'll be sharing with you my list of favourite Christmas movies. There are many of them out there, but I've narrowed it down to my personal favourites.
To kick things off, "All I Want for Christmas". This is one of my absolute favourites, Thora Burch is adorable, Ethan Embry is a great big brother and it's full of heartwarming and funny moments.

hump day humour | groovin' with Ken
I love the Toy Story franchise and the third installment did not disappoint. Let's meet Ken, who just about stole the show.

the goonies to become a musical
Apparently [see here]. Not sure I ever saw this one coming. Chester Copperpot probably didn't either.
And I never realized 80's trailers were this cheesy.

can't wait to see
The Romantics. All star cast aside, the cinematography alone is to die for, capturing the essence of fall and young romanticism. Examining friendships, love and lust, this movie reminds me of one of my favourite movies, Indian Summer.

hollywood homes | the break-up
In the aftermath of getting my new apartment, I watched one of my favourite movies to start pulling together inspiration for decorating. The Break Up. It's been more than a year since I've seen it last, I will say, I think my tastes have evolved a bit since first falling in love with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn's condo from the movie - however, it is still one of my favourite sets and there are two things I will likely pull from the movie and incorporate. 1. The front hall - which is long and narrow like mine and has a primary wall for a huge modern noticeboard (you can just barely see it in the background of the living room shots). 2. The dark navy wallpaper in the bedroom. Love it. (And yes, it is similar to what I have in my bedroom now. I'm a creature of habit).

coming soon
So after my teenage moment yesterday gushing over my favourite actors, I figured I'd toughen up my page today with two upcoming action movies I'm super psyched to see.
.
.
Legion. Starring another one of my favourite actors, Paul Bettany (another Brit), as the Archangel Michael who tries to save Humanity when, losing faith in Mankind, God sends a wrath of angels to bring upon the Apocalypse. Could possibly be a blowout, but I'm going to keep my faith in this one.
.

Clash of the Titans. March 26th can not come soon enough. Sam Worthington stars in the epic movie about Perseus, the demi god who slayed Medusa, in his quest into the underworld to take on Hades (Ralph Fiennes) before he seizes power from Zeus (Liam Neeson). I'm a Greek Myth buff, and although I know there is likely to be a departure from the various legends, I still can't wait to see it.

my favourite | actors
So I'm having a total teenage moment here and feel the need to share with you my favourite male stars from the small and big screen.
.
John Krasinski. aka Jim. John Krasinski is the everyman. We all know someone like him. A little goofy and awkward, however has a quiet confidence and sureness in himself. He's your best friend, reliable, sweet, attentive, and funny as hell - the guy you go to games with, the grocery store and hang out with on a Saturday afternoon. From The Office to License to Wed to Away We Go, he can charm with just a single look. And he sure does clean up nicely.
.
Matthew Goode. Tall, dark, handsome. And British. With sparkly blue eyes and curly black hair. What's not to love? I will admit, I loved him in Chasing Liberty and am highly looking forward to him in Leap Year. Not Oscar worthy performances, but who cares. Did I mention he was British?

Ryan Reynolds. The Canadian Boy on the list. He's got it all, charming good looks, a devilish grin, clever wit, and an easy coolness about him. I love that he doesn't stick to just one role, he's changed it up, from Van Wilder to Gabriel in the Nines, to a man on the edge of a breakdown in Chaos Theory and the guy in the friend zone and trying to find love in Just Friends and Definitely Maybe. And lets not forget Amityville Horror. I will say though, I'll always be perplexed by the jump from Alanis to Scarlett.

and for another classic
Sometimes while surfing the web you'll stumble into the wackiest sites. Like I did today. A Christmas Story House is a website dedicated to all things Christmas and specifically all things A Christmas Story. Check out their gift shop (check out the URL!) where you can purchase your very own leg lamp, Red Rider BB Gun, pink bunny pajamas, Lifebuoy soap and Secret Decoder pin. Other items that caught my eye - A Christmas Story Monopoly Game and Leg Lamp twinkle lights. What's Christmas without Leg Lamp twinkle lights?
