My favourite actor du jour - or more appropriately - vom tag - German actor Matthias Schweighöfer.  You may recognize him from Valkyrie, The Red Baron and one of my favourite foreign films, Kein Ohr Hasen [Rabbit without Ears].  One of Germany's most promising actors, you'll be sure to see much more of him this side of the pond, his charming boyishness is winning critics over one film at a time.

life as we know it

If I had more traditional tastes - the interior set of the movie Life as We Know It would be my dream house.  Although I thought the movie was charming, I was absolutely smitten with the house and like a true architectural designer, appreciate the floor plan even more than the aesthetics.  I had to watch it a few times before I had the floor plan figured out, but figure it out I did, and believe me, quite a few of the space planning ideas will show up in future clients' homes.

It's been on the market for a year, and it's still for sale.  5300sf of landmark modernism just outside of Chicago is now priced at $1.65M - a steal in my books when I consider what you get here in Toronto for the same price.  If only I could find the last $1.645M, we'd have a deal.  [Spotted on the MidCentury Modernist]

Love, love, love.  Great cast.  Great soundtrack. Hugh Grant as prime minister.  The dreamy architect Carl.  And the flashcards!  Broke my heart.  I simply love this movie.

favourite christmas movies | all i want for christmas

As a countdown to Christmas, I'll be sharing with you my list of favourite Christmas movies.  There are many of them out there, but I've narrowed it down to my personal favourites.

To kick things off, "All I Want for Christmas".  This is one of my absolute favourites, Thora Burch is adorable, Ethan Embry is a great big brother and it's full of heartwarming and funny moments.
